Obwohl Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen noch gar nicht in den Kinos angelaufen ist, scheint man bei Paramount & DreamWorks schon mit einem möglichen Starttermin für einen dritten Film zu planen. Wie das Branchenblatt Variety berichtet, hat man hierbei wohl den 01. Juli 2011 im Visier.

Dabei betont man aber, dass die Produktion noch kein offizielles grünes Licht gesehen hat und weder Regisseur Michael Bay, noch die Stars Shia LaBeouf oder Megan Fox, sind für eine dritte Auskopplung bestätigt, wenngleich man zumindest davon ausgehen darf, dass die Stars für den Erfolg der Filme auch ein wenig unentbehrlich sind.

Der Variety-Artikel liest sich deshalb auch wie folgt:

Paramount and DreamWorks are forging ahead with “Transformers 3,” dating the movie for release on July 1, 2011.

It’s the first official word of the three-quel. Paramount insiders have said that the dating of the pic isn’t an official announcement that the project is going forward; rather that the studio wanted to plan a stake in the date.

DreamWorks and Par weren’t immediately available to confirm whether Michael Bay and stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are set to return for the third installment in the franchise, which has fast claimed the July 4th holiday as its own.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, die Fortsetzung des Welterfolges Transformers aus dem Jahr 2007, der $ 708,72 Mio. eingespielt hat, startet in Deutschland ab dem 25.06.2009.

Inzwischen hat sich auch Michael Bay zu Wort gemeldet und hat auf seiner Homepage verlauten lassen, dass er erst einmal eine Transformers-Pause braucht – der Arme:

I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said yes to July 4 – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.
